Falling Back

Falling Back

Don't forget to turn your clocks back! Yes, this Monday morning will be the one that many people look forward to every year.  We gain an hour of sleep, so those heavy eye lids will certainly be a little lighter come the start of the work week.  However, today is Sunday, so let's enjoy the weekend a little more!

October 31: all hallows eve. A time where people are suppose to shoo away the demons in order to assure them a bountiful harvest. Halloween scares to a different scream these days, though. Halloween is the one night a year where that little boy with his plastic pumpkin bucket can be his favorite super hero.  Or its ok for young men to paint their face and replicate heath ledgers' joker antics.  I could go on and on, but you get the point! Halloween is a great time of year no doubt.  What kind of tricks was the great city of Chicago up to?

I'd like to start with Loyola's Halloween shenanigans! On Friday night, Loyola held a trick or treat/overall Halloween extravaganza for the kids of the Rogers Park area.  It was held in Dumbach hall, one of the buildings on Loyola's Campus.  It provided a safe and fun envoirnment for the youngsters.  They would go from room to room, trick or treating, painting pumpkins, and other Halloween themed fun!

However, a young and happening town like Chicago is definitely home to much more than just "the family crowd."  Young college kids can pretty much label it "Halloweekend" (a popular event at held at http://www.cedarpoint.com/index.cfm).  Hamiltons, a bar in Rogers Park was just one of the many bars or pubs hosting Halloween celebrations.  All customers were required to wear customers and several different beverage specials were offered.  There was also room for a wholesome Halloween with a trip to Navy Pier's haunted house.  The event costs $20 and continues until November 2nd.  So if you want one last predetermined scare till next year, check that out tonight.  It happens from 6-11 p.m. at Navy Pier.

Never a dull moment in Chicago, that's for sure! Holiday weekends just get bigger and better every year! Make sure to take advantage of living in such a great city!

Peace&Love,

Larissa
